Giles Perring has been nominated as International Producer of the Year in the prestigious MPG Awards, run by the Music Producers Guild. The nomination has been made for his production of Albert Kuvezin's 'Poets and Lighthouses' in the Sound of Jura studio. Last year's winner was Daniel Lanois, perhaps best known for his work with Bob Dylan and U2.

Meanwhile, here;s news about the next gig in the
Sound of Jura presents....series

Jura Village Hall 19 Nov 2011 8pm

Aaron Jonah Lewis and Karl Culley

Continuing in its quest to bring new and original music to Jura and Islay audiences, Sound of Jura, Giles Perring's recording studio and music project on Jura is proud to announce a concert date set to warm your ears and hopefully the rest of you too.

In an evening of acoustic music, expect 'all the rage', virtuosic and deeply rooted Appalachian 'old time' music from the heart of Virginia, via Berlin, in the shape of the phenomenal Aaron Jonah Lewis, whom we have prized away from a UK tour with Thomas Dolby for a night out in the isles. He's accompanied by UK banjoist extraordinaire Ed Hicks and traditional flat foot dancer Rosalind Mason [so expect dancing..!].

Playing opposite him, in this flurry of fingers on fretwork, is Harrogate songsmith and acoustic guitar wunderkind Karl Culley, now of Krakow, who returns to Jura for the first time since completing the recording of his critically acclaimed debut album 'Bundle Of Nerves' with producer Giles Perring, which got 4 stars from MOJO for its 'dazzling acoustic guitar picking reminiscent of John Martyn at his most fluid'. His latest release, 'The Owl', continues to draw rave reviews with Gigscene declaring 'The Owl is a stunning album. Put simply Culley is the best upcoming acoustic talent in the UK '
